Parish Program Policies & Procedures

Registration

At least one parent/guardian of a child to be enrolled in the classes must be a registered and practicing member of our parish.
The outward sign of participation in the parish life is the use of the offertory envelope every Sunday at Mass and also, taking an active role in sharing your time and talents with others in our Catholic community.

Documents

Every child enrolling for classes should bring a copy of birth certificate, baptismal certificate and records of other Sacraments.
Students transferring from another parish should bring documentation stating their attendance to faith formation classes during the past year.

Annual Fees

(1) Child………………………$50.00

(2) Children…………………..$60.00

(3+) Children …………………. $75.00

Sacramental Preparation

Year 2 – First Communion…. $35

Confirmation ………………. $50

Conduct

We will make every effort to help the children learn to participate in the classroom activities without disruptive behavior.
If a child is not able to do this, the catechist will notify the coordinator of faith formation. The parents will be contacted to discuss a possible solution.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend at least 30 of the 33 scheduled sessions in order to assure reasonable participation and learning.
This guideline is very important for those students in year 1 and year 2 of Sacramental Preparation.

Please notify the parish office at 988-1593 the Sunday of the absence or tell the catechist of the anticipated absence and when the student will return to class.

Parents

Ensure that your children attend classes regularly and on time. Communicate any special needs or circumstances that may affect your children within the classroom setting. Be an active part of your children’s learning and be involved in their classroom at the catechist’s request. Parents of first and second graders and of Confirmation candidates are expected to attend the family sessions listed in this handbook.

Students

Behave in a Christian manner at all times. Show respect and be cooperative with the volunteer catechists and other students.
Actively participate in classroom activities and discussions. Attend class regularly, complete any assignments or homework.
Respect others and others’ property.

Safety Procedures

The safety of the students is a serious responsibility. We ask for your help by following these:

  • Children in Pre-K through 3rd grade must be brought to and taken from the classroom by a parent or guardian. Please do not send brothers or sisters into the classroom to pick up their siblings, unless you have already spoken with the catechist. Students in grades 4 thru high school should be dropped off and picked up by the sidewalk.
  • Drive carefully through the parking lot at all times. Remember that there will be children entering and exiting classes as well as parishioners arriving for the next Mass.
  • Arrive on time when taking your children to class. We only have 1 hour and 15 minutes to cover all the lessons and when a student is tardy, it disrupts the lesson.
  • Be on time picking up your children. Our catechists are all volunteers with children and families of their own and they need to go home on time at the end of the class.
  • Any child not picked up on time will be brought to the parish office and their parents will be contacted.

Communication

We are here to serve the faith formation needs of the children. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to share them with your child’s catechist or call the Faith Formation office at 988-1593.
